while you were here in hail....

We spent a warm, sunny week at our house in Myrtle Beach, S.C.!

Our friends, the Cash/Green Family, joined us for the adventure.

Jason wore his neck pillow on the shuttle bus from the parking lot to the airport. He was so excited to use it. He even wore it through the airport. Yet, when it came time to use it, he was nice enough to pass it over to me. what a sweetie!

Our first day on the beach proved a bit exciting! While Drew was body boarding, a jellyfish floated by him. Being a boy, he had to get his body board and flip the jellyfish up on shore for all to see.

Then we were forced to give it a burial since it wouldn't survive after being poked, prodded, and thrown around the sand. The kids thought it was cool. They even considered dedicating the "grave," but I felt that was going a bit too far.

Later that night, we played an 18-hole round of mini golf. Myrtle Beach has lots of mini golf courses around to choose from. They are all way cooler than anything we have here in Utah. Jason and I tied as the winners! Which is really a bummer, because we always make a "friendly" wager at the beginning of the game. Maybe next time.

On Wednesday, we went to Alligator Adventure. It's a zoo of about 1000 alligators and crocodiles. We've been there before, but always in the sweltering heat. This time, the weather was in the low 70's with no humidity. We definitely had a better time this go around.

Jordan even caught himself a quick moving gecko. It bit his thumb and hung out for about a minute. Jordan thought it was pretty awesome!

Thursday night we went and watched the Myrtle Beach Pelicans get their butts kicked! But the roasted peanuts and ice cream made the night worth while.

This was a $5 purchase I picked up at the mini golf souvenir shop. The two boys had hours and hours and hours of fun with these bows and arrows. And the rest of us spent hours and hours and hours trying to avoid getting shot in the face by an arrow. Good times.

On Friday, we went to Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede. It's a dinner show with horses, pigs, chickens, and dancing. North vs. South. They served corn on the cob, chicken, a biscuit, and a potato wedge, followed by an apple tart. Yum! We were supposed to eat with only our hands, but Cara and Sam cheated and asked for forks!

Cayden got chosen with three other kids to come out and chase a chicken across a finish line in a chicken race. His chicken didn't win, but he had fun and got a medal anyway. Cross farmer out as being one of his potential future jobs!

Oh, and like his hat. He found a civil war hat in the gift shop. He's wearing it in all pics from here on out. He loves it!

Saturday was a drizzly day, so we just walked down to the pier (1.5 miles each way) picking up sea shells as we went.

We had a fun, relaxing time once again in Myrtle Beach! We love that place. Sorry you all were stuck here in the yucky weather while we were gone. However, my yard is nice and green now!
