An Eagle and a Dog

August has been a busy month at our house.

Taylor has worked hard in scouting and earned his Eagle! His goal was to complete it before he turned 14 and he did it! We are so proud of him. Believe me, I know how much work it took!

For his project, he organized a 5K run. The registration fee was a clothing donation to the Christmas Box House. We had a huge turn out: 76 runners and 20 volunteers!

We ran around the Remuda subdivision.
Harmon's donated oranges and watermelon. Delicious!
The weather was perfect.
Everyone brought a lot of clothing to donate, which was awesome!

He made these Reese's Peanutbutter Cup medals to hand out as they crossed the finish line.
A big thank you and love to all our family and friends who came out to support Taylor in this! He (WE) couldn't have done it without you!

We also were really stupid :) and got a new puppy, Hurley. He is a naughty puppy! He was 12 weeks old when we got him. The couple who owned him bought him to fill their home after their youngest son left on his mission. They realized he needed a family with children (because he is a spaz!). He's really cute, but he still tries to bite all the time and he shreds up papers, plants, and socks! I forgot how much work puppies are. Plus, the whole house training thing is very tiring work!

But of course, the kids love him and he is so cute. Darn it!
and just to get my point across, he lost his eyebrows at the groomer because he, and I quote,
"is very, very difficult to groom. DOG AGGRESIVE. Mean, Mean dog. WILL BITE!"
(that was written on his grooming report. Nice)

Taylor's project was a huge success, I thought! Thanks for the much needed workout! Hurley is cute, and it goes to show you that no two dogs are alike. With a puppy you never know what you are going to get!! He's really cute. I love that he had 'comments' on his grooming sheet!
